That’s a bit harsh to give someone 6 months in jail for not using a GPS tracker/locator, but I see where you are coming from. A lot of places require a permit before you hike into the backcountry area, so just make a GPS locator a needed item in order to get approved for your permit. If you don’t have one then get the Rangers some and have them rent them out for a tiny bit of money.
]]>Instead of throwing a shabby contact list in they have added it to be updated in the near future. They want to make sure that it will work really well and not just be a generic and hard=to-use contact list. It sounds simple when looking at phones and computers, but with a GPS tracker, it needs to be designed differently. I am a huge fanboy of Garmin and could not be more excited that they released this one!
]]>I seriously don’t understand why they didn’t build in a contacts list for messages. This is basic stuff here. This will be updated to include it in the future so I would still suggest picking one up if you can afford to, but it is frustrating they didn’t release it with it yet.
]]>Not sure if the batteries can easily be swapped but I recommend you just carry a powerbank with you to charge it. An extra battery for the Garmin GPSMap 66i can only be used for the Garmin, but if you have a battery bank it can charge your Garmin as well as your cell phone and other electronic devices.
