Oh no – don’t say Apple! Haha. It’ll wind up costing an ‘arm and a leg’ I’m sure. It’s politics like you said, and the market not wanting or being prepared for such changes. I would say, take a step back though, and consider if certain or so many industries fail with abrupt solar-power take-over, that job distribution and other economic elements across societies are susceptible to collapse as well without the necessary precision and responsible business decisions.

It’s pretty crazy how “simple” this cool design and product is, considering how much work it’ll take to install and uninstall. Remote blinds? Now we’re talkin 😉 I love the ‘simple’ dock design for powering all of my (USB?) devices. When and how could this begin to be used for powering the appliances in your home, and what would such technology require that we don’t already have or use? $390 seems like a great price, just consider how much money you’ll save as opposed to using your electrical outlets for charging your phone, mobile devices, laptops, etc. I’d really love to see this used to charge a PC, monitors, and the television perhaps. I charge my laptops continuously during use and am re-charging both my work and personal phone every day between work, school, and going out. This definitely looks like a must-have though!

I am surprised Elon Musk or Apple didn’t come up with this project. The Solargaps solar panel window blinds are an affordable and easy way to “get your feet wet” with solar power. Once people realize how easy and efficient this little solar powered blinds are, they may then begin looking to outfit their home with other solar options to eventually power their entire home. The technology is here and proven to work, so why is there so much political fighting over it?

I’ve always just bought generic cheap blinds, but when my father remodeled his home he had custom blinds installed and they cost MORE than the medium sized Solargap blinds do! You can also recoup some of the cost be installing a 2-way meter from your power company and selling them the excess energy you that you don’t utilize. This is a fantastic product. To outfit your entire home with these blinds can get a bit expensive, but in the long-run they would pay for themselves. I can also see these solar panel blinds becoming popular in areas that often get ravaged by natural disasters such as hurricanes.
