LEGO One Piece The Going Merry Pirate Ship Lets You Build the Straw Hat Crew’s Iconic Seafaring Vessel

One Piece isn’t just one of the longest-running and most popular anime series of all time, it’s also one of the most popular media franchises in the world. It’s so popular, in fact, that Netflix made a live action adaptation that registered a whopping 18.5 million streams in its first three days on the service. That live action adaptation is the source of inspiration for LEGO’s new lineup of One Piece models, including our instant favorite: the LEGO One Piece The Going Merry Pirate Ship.

That’s right, LEGO will you let build a model of the Straw Hat crew’s very first ship, as it appeared on the live-action series, allowing you to relive your favorite scenes both from the show’s first season or the countless anime episodes before it. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary pirate crew, a new fan who discovered it on Netflix’s live action adaptation, or just a LEGO fan who wants every pirate ship you can get, this thing will have you putting together the iconic vessel in grand detail.

The LEGO One Piece The Going Merry Pirate Ship is a faithful recreation of the original Straw Hat Pirates’ ship, as seen on the Netflix show, allowing you to sail along with the crew while rewatching episodes on your tablet. It brings to life the ship’s exterior in all its full glory, from the sheep figurehead out front (where Luffy can take his favorite spot) and the cannon below it to the printed sail with the iconic straw hat-wearing Jolly Roger skull insignia.

All the familiar parts of the ship are in tow, from the anchor deck out front and the quarter deck with the rudder in the back to the main deck littered with all sorts of supplies and a crow’s nest for Usopp to check what lies far ahead with a trusted set of optics (we prefer binoculars ourselves). Suffice to say, this looks like the same thriving and vibrant pirate ship you see on the show.

The LEGO One Piece The Going Merry Pirate Ship is fully outfitted under the deck, too, with a crew’s cabin, a kitchen, a food storage area, and an accessory workshop, with each space decorated with various accessories to make it look like the actual spaces in the series. Seriously, the kitchen even has miniature pots and pans, so you can have your minifigs whip up a meal while sailing in the middle of the ocean. It doesn’t seem to have any moving parts, though, which would have been more fun (we wish we can adjust the sail).

A total of 1,376 pieces are included in the set, including four wanted posters and a set of five minifigs. Specifically, it comes with minifigures of Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, so you get the entire crew onboard, allowing you to set sail with the whole pirate gang. Once assembled, by the way, the whole thing measures 13.5 x 15.5 x 8 inches (height x length x width), so this makes for a pretty big model you can show off on a shelf somewhere.

The LEGO One Piece The Going Merry Pirate Ship comes out August 1st, priced at $139.99.
