LEGO Art Keith Haring Dancing Figures Brings the 80s Pop Art Icons to Life

Keith Haring became one of the most celebrated street artists of the 20th century, having produced more than 50 public artworks between 1982 and 1989. His distinct iconography resonated with a wider audience than most artists typically reach, while making his creations easily identifiable. Many of his artwork feature dancing figures, which shows individuals drawn in bold lines and bright colors, each one striking animated dancing poses. The LEGO Art Keith Haring Dancing Figures lets you build some of those colorful characters as physical models.

That’s right, LEGO turned Haring’s iconic dancing figures into buildable models for their Art line, allowing you to bring some certified 80s-style pop art into your display shelf. They’re big, they’re colorful, and they capture the spirit of the artist’s creations very well, making for quite the impressive display pieces that pop art fans are going to appreciate.

The LEGO Art Keith Haring Dancing Figures set lets you build five individual models of colorful characters in dancing poses that were lifted straight out of the artist’s creations. Each figure recreates the signature iconography found in Haring’s work, from the thick outlines and the vibrant colors to the motion lines that create the impression of movement. The figures are meant to be created individually, by the way, so you can build just the ones you want and save the others for later. If you like building with your kids, this might be a good opportunity to build models side by side, since you can take on one of the figures while they take on the others.

These figures are big, by the way, with the tallest one measuring 13 inches tall, so these are not small models designed for keeping on a desk. Instead, these are the kind you’ll want to show off on a shelf somewhere. Heck, you can even set up a diorama background to make your display look like a 3D mural of sorts. Or you can just buy a large print of one of Haring’s murals and pose these figures there as part of the scene. Yeah, that sounds fun.

The LEGO Art Keith Haring Dancing Figures comes with five stands, one for each of the figures, allowing you to set them down on any desk, shelf, or table. Alternatively, they can be hung on a wall using the included hardware, which, in our opinion, is an even better way of showing them off. From what we can tell, these figures look like they’re going to be easy to build, since they’re, basically, 2D models with pretty simple lines, making it potentially a fun project to do with your kids (not to mention, it’s a nice way to expose them to some 80s pop art).

According to the outfit, the set comes with 1,7773 LEGO pieces, so there’s quite a bit of bricks to put together here, even though these seem like relatively easy builds. Since each figure is meant to be built on its own, the set comes with five separate instruction booklets, too, which makes building this with family and friends just that much easier.

The LEGO Art Keith Haring Dancing Figures comes out May 15th, priced at $119.99.
